  • What ride is this...recent purple road marks, Wildwood
About a month or so ago noticed the purple route and road hazard spray markings on the roads all over Wildwood.  Quite a course.  Looks like fairly recent markings not more than a month or two old.    The roads are marked from Melrose, to Rockwood reservation, old Manchester, Melrose, Bouquet, Little Tavern Rd towards T and St. Albans, etc.    After discovering some more today curious if anyone knew what organized ride/race this was.

  • Five WorldTour squads headed to inaugural Tour of Alberta

Five UCI World Tour teams, including Garmin-Sharp, Cannondale, BMC Racing, Blanco, and Argos-Shimano, highlight the list of initial teams announced for the inaugural Tour of Alberta, held September 3-8.

Rounding out the initial nine of 15 teams announced are China’s top Pro Continental team, Champion System, Canadian Continental team Equipe Garneau-Quebecor, and American Continental teams SmartStop-Mountain Khakis and Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies.

“We are extremely pleased with the interest we received from cycling teams around the world about participating in the inaugural year of the Tour of Alberta, and very excited to confirm some of the top teams in the world will be racing in the province this September,” said Duane Vienneau, executive director of the Alberta Peloton Association, which is organizing the Tour of Alberta. “Cycling fans will be thrilled, and fans new to the sport will be blown away by the calibre of the teams and the athletes who will be coming to Canada this fall.”

The remaining six teams to fill out the 15-team field will be announced later this month, and the final team rosters will be announced in August.

As the first pro cycling race of its kind to be held in Canada, the Tour of Alberta hopes to attract significant international attention by featuring top pro teams from around the world, including Tour de France competitors and world champions.

The inaugural Tour of Alberta starts with a prologue in Edmonton on Tuesday, September 3, and ends in Calgary on Sunday, September 8. More information can be found at www.tourofalberta.ca.
