Ryan Wachter Update
06 April 2013 - 04:25 PM
For all those who had heard (and those who hadnt), Ryan Wachter had a collison with a car this afternoon while on his way to the Carondelet crit. I just got off the phone with him and he's home after being released with no broken bones and no concussion symptoms. Just some road rash and some aches & pains.
You're not going to live long riding like that........

To whom it may concern,
I can only hope that the clown that i had an encounter with this morning is a regular visitor to STL Biking. Contrary to your assertion on the road, Missouri law (304.285) clearly states; a bicylist who violates 304.281 shall be held accountable unless the following criteria are met:
1- The Motorcycle or Bicycle has been brought to a complete stop
2- The traffic control signal continues to show red for an unreasonable period of time
3- The traffic control is apparently malfunctioning or is programmed to be changed to a green light by detecting the approach of an oncoming vehicle: and has failed to detect the motorcycle;
4- No motor vehicle or pedestrian is approaching the intersection to cross.
So when i'm sitting STILL on my bike on Union waiting for the red light to change and you blow by me through the RED light, you were completely in violation. So when i pull up alongside of you to let you know that you make all of us riders who obey the traffic laws look bad, i get the spiel that its ok to do it per Missouri law and when i point out you're wrong, you mention that i must be looking at the wrong pamphlet. Good one.
Thats ok, you're next manuver told me you're not long for the road. Making a right on River Des Peres blvd in order to skip the Northbound red light and then doing a u-turn (thats illegal, right?) was bad enough. But then when you make the right to proceed further northbound on Morganford and ride between the 2 lanes of traffic sitting at the next red line was pretty good. But then when you ran the next red light in front of all those cars to go through the intersection told me you were definately not a rocket scientist.
I dont know, maybe i scared the beegeezus out of you.
I just know you're not long for this world riding your bike like that.

lost valley course
03 March 2013 - 07:51 PM
I need to know what the exact course is for Lost Valley this year. I'm very familiar with the start at the Mound and the fast and furious down hill but what after that? I plan on hiking it this weekend if possible. Is the Lost Valley trail map on the GORC website the course without the little spur down to 94?

injured rider update
09 September 2012 - 03:54 PM
Good news about Pat Clark, the rider who was injured today. She called me as i was on the way home and she's been released with a sprained neck.
She plans on being out of action for a little while.
