Yes, I am a procrastinator. But today was one day where it paid off! I had hoped to be on the bicycle by 10 a.m. before it got really hot. That didn't happen. Fortunately, some cloud cover moved in about 1 p.m. and cooled things off a bit. I got in 24.3 miles before the clouds moved away.

My mom's home parish, St. Alphonsus in Brighton, said farewell Saturday to its priest of 16 years, Fr. Raphael Paul. I was there for his first funeral Mass for my brother Wesley and for his last funeral Mass for Kelly Hall's and Marilyn Logan's dad, Glen Roderfeld. I wish him well in his new assignments in the Springfield area.

Even more than 17 years later, I still miss my Dad! Knowing him, he's probably still try to prod the Betsey Ann Association into spending more money on entertainment for the Picnic, just as he attempted to do 20 or so more years ago when he was on the association's board.

It doesn't get better than this in Belleville! Art on the Square downtown, stock-car racing at Belle-Clair Speedway and movies at the the Skyview Drive-In! There, you can see a double-feature of "Battleship" and "The Three Stooges"!

Back in Belleville after Mother's Day celebration and a well-done funeral Mass for Glen Roderfeld, who lived down the road from my family and who was a long-time member of St. Alphonsus in Brighton. My sympathy goes out to Kelly Hall and her sisters who said goodbye to a great man.
