Shimano road pedals and cleats

10 December 2012 - 06:16 PM

I am in the market for a set of road pedals, and ideally the cleats too. I am not set on a perticular model, but want something that will work well on the track, for a while. Thanks.

Schedule and notes for August 2nd

01 August 2012 - 10:30 AM

Schedule first

6 Lap Keirin for all groups. 4 1/2 laps behind the motor, 1 1/2 sprint
A- top speed 30mph
B- 27mph
C- 25 mph

Open track for Everyone
Any one with a bike and a helmet will be allowed to ride the track. There will be a short introduction to riding, but it probably will not be the best idea to be out there working for the next event. After that there will be some open time for just racers.

2km Team Pursuit
Teams will be assigned, with a variety of rider skill levels. During the open track period it would be a good idea to get together with your team to figure out strategy.

Open track for Racers
This will be pretty short, just to give you a little time to spin before the final event.

Chariot Races
We will figure out groups at the line for 4 up 1 lap races.

Now for the notes:
First off Keirins are dangerous. I trust all of you to know how to handle your bike, but it is something we haven't done. So make sure you just hold the paceline well. If you cannot hold on, DO NOT move up track. Like every other race, just hold your line. The faster riders will come around you.

I advised it up in the schedule, but it would be a really really good idea to take sometime to figure out how your team wants to do things.

All of the races we are running require holders, so please if you can please help out in that department.

In my infinite skill at planning an event I forgot to get hamburger buns. If some one wants to be really really amazing and bring some I will be in their debt.

There will be a keg that has been awesomely donated by Schlalfey, and it will be on ice when it arrives at the track, but there is fear of all that ice melting, and the beer being less good. So if any one wants to be great and bring a bag when they get there later, I would love that.

Finally, GIANT THANK YOUS go out to Matt, Zach, Tyler, Jim, Swilkes, Arol(sorry if I spelled your name wrong), Russ and Mesa Cycling, Carl and A&M, Big Shark, Schlafley, Molly, Steph, and all of you.

Keirin Practice

22 July 2012 - 12:09 PM

We have the first Keirin in St. Louis in a long while coming up soon, so we need to get out and get some practice for the racers, and the motor. We want to get as many people as can to come out and ride. So what works better for the masses Saturday after 5pm or Sunday after 12pm? Please as many people as can let me know. I want to make sure we get a lot going.

August 2nd Aniversary Party!

19 July 2012 - 10:23 AM

Things are ramping up for the big party, all the details are set. There are still a few things that need to be worked on. The two biggest are getting a grill or two out to the track. I have a ton of charcoal, and will be brining the grillables. But  I don't have a grill to get out there. The other main thing is getting a PA out for some fun announcing shenanigans. That is the big two, but there is other little stuff that if you have some time(and/or monies) that you want to throw in, please send me a message on here, talk to me in person, or email me(the least good option) at shelton_kayce@yahoo.com. Here is the schedual of races for the night, there will be lots of excitment for new fans to come watch, so bring every one you know.

A, B, C and Women's KEIRIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Introduction to safe track riding for specators and a short open track.

Mixed group 2k Team Pursuit, with teams made by the officials

Open track for more perticipation of observers.

4 or 5 up Chariot Races.

BBQ and Party.

50th anniversary party!

02 July 2012 - 02:38 PM

There has been some talk about what we are going to do to celebrate, but nothing formal in the works as far as I know. I think that we need to get a schedule, and figure some things out.

Date:
Some one suggested that we delay a Thursday night of racing over to Friday, that seems like a good idea to me, but this is for everyone, so the more input the better. We also need to pick a date. I think that July 27 or August 3 would be best, that way we have time to figure things out.

Racing events:
This could be a good time to get bike people that don't race at Bumpyface, and non-bike people out to see what the track is all about, so if I were the one making this event I would do races that are not too complex, and a visually interesting. The ones that come to mind for me are: win or miss and out, team pursuit, chariot, and the elusive keirin if we get that figured out.

Non-racing items:
This is just a list of things that I have thought of that would make the whole thing more fun for everybody:
BBQ
Alcohol permit
PA system for announcing/ music
Fliers
Gambling?

I have a pretty good amount of free time for the next few weeks, so with the help of another person or two I could take the lead on this if it is what we want, but I really think this should be a celebration of every one that has supported the track, so I think any one with an idea should contribute.
