We had some pretty impressive performances out there tonight and quite a few personal bests. Results are up on STLTT.com

Ron, Lynn, thank you again. As always, your help is very much appreciated. And also a big thanks to Don and Darrin for the sweeping. You guys all rock.

Tonight's free rides went to Austin and Melissa Gomes and to Chuck Mayden. Next week we'll draw 3 more.

We have 2 nights remaining in the series. Next week will be another like any other. The final week is shaping up to be something a little different. I floated the idea tonight for doing a shortened format for the last WNTT of 2012 and it seemed to be pretty well accepted. The race we're thinking about is a 4.5 mile prologue-style TT from one end of the course to the other. Of course if there's a wind we'll choose the more favorable direction. We think it'll be fun and a fitting way to end the series. Immediately after we'll wrap up with series awards and recognition, which we know will be fun.

Wrapping up... check over the results and let me know of anything that needs correction. If all looks OK I'll upload them to USACycling in a day or so. And let me know what you think about the final evening. Let's make it one to remember

The season finale sounds like fun and I will be there in one form or another. I can bring beverages - or something else. Let me know what's needed.

Yes, indeed, last night was a great night. Thanks to all who made it happen.

Madeleine

PS  linguistically speaking, it sounds like you are forging new ground in race format - with a party and all, wouldn't this be an  Epilogue-style TT ?

Maybe not so much Epilogue-style as just plain Epilogue?

There is no Epilogue in race vernacular so a line needed to be drawn from the more well-known Prologue. I can't take credit for Prologue-style. Someone mentioned it last night and I adopted it. Credit goes to you for connecting the dots.

While we're at it we should go ahead and recognize next week as the penultimate WNTT

It may be my imagination, but I thought that the origin of the notion of a Prologue TT arose from literature - a book's prologue is designed to provide a starting point and give context for what is immediately to follow, whereas an epilogue is included to tie up loose ends. Or, where series are involved, to entice you to buy the author's next book ...

With cycling loose ends are never tied off. There's always a new training plan, a new bike, a set of wheels, or a skinsuit to experiment with. Every race is a prologue
