Trying to decide on continental gp 4000 (my favorite), or gatorskin. I would like to get better wear.
Any suggestions?

This was discussed recently:  http://stlbiking.com...6-rave-for-co2/

My vote is for Gatorskins.

The GP4000 is a great all arounder. The gatorskins are great if you don't want to worry about flats, but the ride is pretty awful. If wear is your number one concern and you don't race, go gatorskins. (or if you change tires for a race) 75-78 bucks on ribble/probikekit right now with discount code for a pair. Cheaper still at probikekit if you buy more than one twin pack (and free shipping to the us, takes about 5 to 7 business days in my experience).

Or if you want an even longer-wearing tire, check out the Continental GatorHardshell. Like the Gatorskin, but thicker.

I switched to Gatorskins in 2010 and love them.  That said, I don't race them and use the bike solely for base miles, so not having flats is the only thing I care about.  I have no idea if they ride awful because to me, a tire with air trumps a tire w/o air.  :-)

As those old Pontiac commercials said, wider is better.

Another vote for the Gatorskins.  I like the 700x25 best.  I think that they ride and roll better than the 23s and you can run a lower pressure.  Run them with ~100 lbs and you will be happy with the ride.  Puncture resistance is great and they last much longer than a race clincher.  Ride the Gatorskins for everyday use and save the 4000s for race day or training days when you want a different feel (although I doubt that you will really be able to tell much of a difference)

Or better yet buy them from one of our many fine, local bicycle shops.

Thanks for the feed back. Gatorskins it is. I'm going to try the 25mm tires. And yes, I plan on buying these at a local shop eventhough I pay almost 2x the on line price. I just appreciate what these guys do. The guys in the back of the house are awesome people. This seems to be universal in all stores and I feel good regardless of the shop I'm in.

I roll on 28mm Vittoria Rubino Pros on 23 mm wide rims at 85 psi. The ride is sweeeet.
Gatorskins would last longer but wouldn't feel as nice.

Life is too short to ride on high milage tires.

Man, any 28c tire at 85 psi will feel smooth.

I'm all for supporting local bike shops but not when it costs 100% more. (at least not in my financial position)
