I rode at the Brian Piccolo Park Velodrome while attending training this week. My first experience on a track other than Mr. Bumpy and an amazing experience. Brian Piccolo is concrete, 333 meters, and was built in the early 90's. We had the track to ourselves as a couple of associates joined me for their first time on a track. They talked about the experience the rest of the week. I want one in St. Louis.

Yep! Now you're addicted!
Q: Do you really sprint with such reckless abandon that you need straps?

Also, the feeling you got on the 333 is easily x10 on a 250m!

+1 one that , I got hooked last year at the Frisco superdrome in Dallas...250m wood high bank. Just need to keep growing it here in stl so that we can someday get a real track.

That's true, the bumps ARE REAL! Every single one. But really, I don't think anyone is pointing that out as a reason not to ride it, 3 medals were won at Master Natz at CO Springs by guys off our track. To me, that means its very usable for certain things. But its not usable for me to reach the speeds that Elite track sprinting occurs at. Think about the kind of level everyone would be on if there was a smooth track where we could have motor sessions and the racing could be deeper and just faster in general. A steep and fast 250m is all anyone means by real track.
