I heard a rumor that the start finish line will be at the lower parking lot on Hwy 94 and not at the start of the Hamburg, ANy truth to this?

The race course will be as similar to the Luau as possible.  Same starting place and finishing area.  Same direction, same number of laps.  Great chance to compare times from the spring.

Will registration be available on site on race day?

Is this event USAC permitted?  Didn't see one listed on USAC nor any USAC permit pending language on the flyer.  If I crash I want to know who to sue.

Rode it yesterday morning, it's fast and fun.  The gravel climb sure is loose.  I wonder if they keep dumping large gravel on it, or what.  Folks were building new singletrack but that's a long-term project and it may not be ready for inclusion in this race.

I have to miss this event. Major bummer for me. I love a lost valley race!

Who cares who this is sanctioned through?  The parks will require insurance from the promoter and that is all we as racers should be concerned with.  Also I have crashed a ton over the years on my bike and no matter what - I'm responsible for everything (yes everything) that happens to me.   That includes another rider taking me out (a couple names pop in my head   - kidding here), a bump in the trail, a mis-marked trail, etc. This is a dangerous sport and by even riding or racing you are accepting the risks that go along with it.   I know this was a bit of tongue and cheek post but didn't want others to escalate this into the typical 9 pages of typical debate.  Although that would be promotion for the race, and any publicity is good publicity!

KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid!   I will be there as I miss the Luau every year with a business trip.
And I appreciate Mike and Momentum joining in the Race Promotions this years!

Looking forward to this. I too miss the Luau each year due to business. Glad I can make this one. A previous post mentioned that the start/finish/direction would be similar to the Luau. Could someone share that info? Just curious and understand it would be subject to change.
Thanks in advance to Momentum!

Assuming it's like previous races, the race course itself is just counter-clockwise loops of the trail system.  You'll start by the wooden gates on the Hamburg (near The Mound), and race down that for ~ 1 mile before turning right and dropping down into Lost Valley.  The Hamburg section is only used for the start; race loops are on the Lost Valley trail.  The finish is very near the # 6 on GORC's map, and you'll cross it just before making the left and climbing that gravel hill for another lap.

Here are some links to threads about the race out there in March (basically the same course).  Some of the threads have links to pictures and one is just a post-race discussion.

Awesome, thanks gss!

Also, any good shop's to rent a nice mountain bike? I don't really want to pay the $150 each way to fly my Niner there if I don't have to.

Just a thought but what about shipping it UPS to Momentum Cycles who is putting on the race.  UPS has to much less than that.
