Lots of folks have been discussing this online as if it's primarily a "Strava made him do it" deal.  (along with the story of the cyclist who was killed trying to regain top-dog Strava status on a certain descent, and who's family is now suing Strava)

I see it more as part of the age-old "racer blowing through stop signs and red lights" problem, which of course has been discussed here and elsewhere many, many times.

Strava, Mapmyride, nor god made him do anything. As a member of society you make decisions very single second of the day. This person made the wrong choice and should have to deal with the consequences of his choice and be remove from the society that he is a danger to.

Offtopic about the strava thing: how come if he would have gotten that KOM it would have been HIS achievement, but because he killed himself it's strava's fault. I know his family probably made the suing decision in grief, hopefully they come to their sense/lawsuit gets thrown out soon.
