Klondike and Brommelseik in St. Charles county are great places to ride, too -- tons of great options around StL area, especially with a mountain bike!
Hope you have a good time with it

They may be more visually interesting in the spring and fall, but still fun places to ride a bike. What part of the Katy did you ride? You could always ride the train out west and pedal home or vice versa.

Do NOT ride through the BISON AREA !!!! It IS signed NO BICYCLES !!! (so I was told after the fact.....) The cattle gates are no problem for bicycle - I bunny hopped right over those (thus missing the sign while ripping through there at speed). The bison, however, have a rather intense distain for bicycles - especially during the rutt. I (and another cyclist) who both missed the [No Bicycles] sign were both fortunate to be resuced by cars. Me - perhaps 2-3 inches before the bull out there took his horns to my bicycle and person. I'm NOT making this up - and I am not exaggerating. I could have patted his head if I were so inclined. DO NOT ride out there !!! I'm happy to have lived to tell about it....and I still change the channel on the TV if so much as a "when animals attack" commercial comes on. It was NOT a memorable experience.....
...errrrr....actually it WAS a memorable experience.....but one I would really rather forget. It's been almost two years now and I still struggle with the memories.....
