Just a few reminders
  • The road race will start/finish downtown and not the community center, more info on the website.
  • The Cat 4 race was shortened this year to make it more competitive.
  • All Cat 5's that show up on race day and race will get a free $110 Cannondale helmet!
  • Plenty of other goodies and other helmets to give away thanks to Cannondale, Giant, PowerGel and RPM Car Care.
  • 2 lane closed road on Main Street for the finish.
  • Pre-reg closes tonight.

Todd - any chance you can put a table(s) in the Feed Zone for folks without a "feeder" to put feed on?  I understand it's "not guaranteed" to be there (who would steal my feed???), but it's much easier than hanging it from some random persons side mirror :-)

Feed zone table - I would bet that request would be a no from the officials if the request is for it to be on or super close to the road, probably be considered a hazard.  I can ask to see if it would be ok for the table to be in the grass/driveway.  The other issue is I don't know how flat it is right off the road.  If I can make it work (maybe near the driveway), I have no problem grabbing an extra table and throwing it there.

I saw a request for neutral feed for Hellbender next year.  For anyone that has put on a race, it is like pulling impacted teeth getting enough help.  I soooo wish I could spare some for the feed zone but no dice.

For the Ste Gen race, I just did a rough count and we have over 60 volunteers signed up for different shifts/duties.  Those numbers don't include the 6 police officers working the race or the race officials.

So I say the above not to show the difficulties of putting on a race but to let other racers that have feed help try to organize a way to help others that don't have feed zone help.  Especially if it turns hot for the multi-lapers.  Example, if you have feed zone help and there is a feed zone table, when the feed zone helpers are not preparing for your race to come around, have them congregate near the table and racers can yell, red bag, Pink Hello Kitty water bottle, GI Joe lunch box or whatever.  Just an idea.

Will plan to have a table at the feed zone off of the road.  We of course will not be responsible for anything that is taken off the table or knocked off the table.

Good luck Sunday, going to be fun!!!

The Feedzone should always be neutral, even if the racedirector says it is not. Racers should make it neutral, period, for safety and fairness!

Feedzonehelp, hand out buddy: for me as an old guy who does not twitter or facebook, it is hard to believe that a bikeracer would not be able to bring a friend, familymember, twitter or facebook follower, wife, husband, brother, sister..etc to a roadrace to hand of a waterbottle......

Race hard and fair, respect your opponent, don't attack in feedzone! ^_^

so long , bis dann Bernd

Good to see some of this feed zone discussion happening AHEAD of the race rather than after the fact

I always find it tough to limit natural attacking zones. For instance, Hillsboro.  The course doesn't have too many difficult zones to make a selection.  IMO, attacking through town makes sense here.  The 2011 OGP was another place where a correctly timed attack (near the feed zone) could result in a selection (steep hill located near the finish).  (We've changed directions at the OGP this year...so the last hill is about 4 miles from the finish.)

At Ste. Gen, you've got 5-6 miles of slightly downhill before town...so one would think that whatever selection has occured... won't need to attack the feed zone.

Just my 2 cents.

What a great event - well organized and managed and awesome course. Thanks to all the volunteers that make these road races possible.

And for the ladies who were working the Cat 5 sign-in table and then were pouring water on the backs of riders over the top of the KOM... I believe there will be a special place in heaven for you.

Cheers!
