Hellbender Omnium Question

I've never done this race before.  For the road race, can I get by with my 11/23 or will I need a bigger cassette?

Do you ride a compact crank? Do you like climbing? I race the RR with an 11/28 and have a 53:39 chain rings. I wish I had more gears.

Bit confused on registration.  USCF flyer says prereg ends tonight  at midnight, but when you go to the registration page it says wednesday.   Hope its' Wed.  cuz there aren't many preregs... No worries for me, i have preregd. let's fill the fields! :D
