I know y'all know - but it's bike to work week & Friday is bike to work day & there's all sorts of fun stuff (and serious stuff) relating to cycling in STL this week.

Great Race
When: Thursday, May 17
4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Where: Begins downtown at Post Office Plaza
815 Locust St.
Details: Join Trailnet, CMT and WeCar for the Great Race between TEAM BIKE, TEAM TRANSIT, and TEAM CARSHARE as they compete in a head-to-head battle to see which transportation mode can travel from downtown to Clayton the fastest.
The race will kick off from Post Office Plaza at 4:45 p.m. when Mayor Francis Slay gives the official signal to start the race.
Members of TEAM BIKE will run to the Downtown Bike Station to pick up their bikes, TEAM TRANSIT will run to board MetroLink at the 8th and Pine station, and TEAM CARSHARE will run to pick up its WeCar parked at 10th and Washington. Each team will travel to the finish line at C.J. Muggs in downtown Clayton where St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley will present an award to the winning team.
We'll have a business card drop for anyone who rides his or her bike to join TEAM BIKE at C.J. Muggs for the chance to win a $50 Big Shark Bicycle Company gift card!
Members of TEAM BIKE include Ann Mack, executive director of Trailnet, and anchor Kevin Steincross from KTVI FOX 2 News; TEAM CARSHARE will include Don Corrigan, editor-in-chief of the Webster-Kirkwood Times newspaper and Steve Salemi with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
TEAM TRANSIT members are Kevin The Intern from Y98-FM; reporter Heidi Glaus from KSDK NewsChannel 5; reporter Nate Birt from the Clayton-Richmond Heights Patch; and Kim Cella, executive director of Citizens for Modern Transit.
