There are several good choices for anyone interested in doing an X-terra off road triathlon coming up in the month of June.
June 9th is X-Terra Eureka Springs in Arkansas. This is about 5 hours from STL and features a fairly challenging coarse. The mountain bike coarse is 13 miles and favors a strong technical rider. There are several challenging sustained climbs, some fast technical descents, and several rock garden areas. The 5 mile run can be fairly painful as well with two challenging sustained climbs in the first two miles. Runers then top out and the final 1.5 to 2 miles is flat and slightly down hill.
June 23rd is X-Terra Scales Lake just outside Evansville Indiana. This is about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from STL and is an all around fun coarse. This is a two lap 5.5 mile bike loop and is like riding a bmx track with lots of curvy, flowy, terrain. The run is a 3.3 mile single loop with multiple steep quick climbs and descents.
June 30th is X-Terra Lock 4 Blast in Gallatin Tennessee. This is about a 5 hour drive from STL and features an good all around coarse. The bike coarse is a very flowy, fast two lap 6 mile loop followed by a two lap 2.1 mile run loop.
These are all very well run events with good race organizers....

Thanks for posting! A few of us are planning on Scales Lake as well as the 2 others in Indy that fall in line with the DINO series. Those weekends promise to be a blast!

A little over a week out from X-Terra Eureka Springs. Apparently Mike Barro will be back to defend his title and Jay Orr is coming down too..as well as myself (Matthew Fulbright). Anybody else from our neck of the woods coming?

I think Jay is doing the Half Ironman in KS next weekend. But we got Matt Parris and Joe Rother going. Defending womens champion Laura Scherff can't make this year.
Looking forward to seeing you down there again, Matt.

X-Terra Scales Lake is Sat June 23rd just outside Evansville Indiana. This is a fast, fairly short, beginner friendly coarse that's just 3 hours from STL. The race is put on by the local YMCA and backed/supported by the local big hospital. It's a very well run/marked event with tons of volunteers, good post race food and schwag. Looking forward to seeing Cory R and hopefully some other Stl crowd there.
It was great having a good little STL contingent representing at Eureka Springs....
