I just wanted to send some praise to the 16 Cat 4's during the 2nd lap in the TOH RR yesterday.
Neutralizing a race on any Road Race course is difficult for an Official but with the unknowns of where an injured rider is and when the Ambulance is going to catch and overtake the field, it just adds to the situation.
The riders yesterday took my shouted commands with no complaints and did exactly what was asked of them.
It made it easy to keep you guys rolling and not have to completly stop for the Ambulance to pass.

It was also helpful to have a great team of Pace/Follow vehicle drivers, so thanks to Jeff for that.
Great job all the way around.

I was in that race...Thanks for keeping us rolling. You neutralized us safely while still keeping us going while the ambulance passed and we still got to race the last KOM. Thanks very much for running a great road race yesterday.

I was also racing in that particular race and saw nothing but professionalism and cooperation from officials and racers.  Not knowing anything about what was going on, it was great to have Larry roll up and give us both a heads up on what to expect and clear instructions on what to do.

As for the what happened?  I have heard that a group was sprinting for the KOM points and got tangled.  One racer went down and ended up with a compound fracture of the collarbone.  If anyone has more accurate information, please feel free to chime in.

accident report is accurate. Austin Vinton in the PRO12 field was the rider hurt. His rear wheel came loose causing him to fall.

Although it was not a compound fracture, he did break it like he meant it
