Most of us here know each other in real life by name, face, reputation, or sometimes by a USAC license #.  We interact here together because of that shared experience. We are a community!  I feel like this online representation of our real life community is frequently beleaguered, and harassed by two specific personalities who are so cowardly that they must remain anonymous, only to be identified by their online pseudonyms: "Diogenes" and "Caster Troy" who do not actually participate in our real life community, but only detract from our online one .  After observing their countless antagonistic responses to otherwise innocuous topics and their haranguing of posters for voicing pro-cycling, I have come to the conclusion that they merely troll OUR online community as disturbers of the peace.  I for one would like for them to cease and desist their campaign of harassment or be removed as users of the STLBIKING community.  I can't possibly be the only one...

"do not actually participate in our real life community"!?!?

Just because you don't know one of them doesn't mean they aren't real.

And yes, Diogenes is definitely part of the St. Louis biking community.

I have no problem with them yelling at us for bad grammar or running stop signs, it is just when someone highjacks threads involving injured cyclists and things of that nature. Tasteless and unnecessary.

Addendum:

Would you like to see a friendly boxing match between Diogenes and / or Castor Troy and myself? How about a friendly boxing match between Diogenes and / or Castor Troy and Tylerbick? How about a friendly tag team boxing match between Diogenes-Castor Troy and Tylerbick-1776?

If mentioned parties are willing to arrange such a satisfying event, then I invite EVERYONE to come and watch it.

I'll supply the boxing gloves.

I don't post much, being mostly a lurker (and am frequently out of town for extended periods), but happened on this thread today - and the Keirin one as well.
It seems that the Diogenes and Caster Troy persons can be PITAs at times, but I also think they have cycling at heart and how it is viewed by the public at large.
If someone wants their names to be made public - and only their names - then it would seem that everyones names should be public - like how many of the TV stations and papers now require Facebook IDs to elimininate all sorts of nasty comments.

As far as that track thread goes - it looks like Diogenes is just responding to what Tylerbick posted, although not as nastily as Tylerbick.
Of course, I've never done track, so I don't know if they've had confrontations on that subject.

One thing I do know, though, that Facebook requirement of real names would eliminate the fourletter words in the recent couple of days - or at least it should.

I also noticed last night that in that track thread someone named nomoretickets had posted a pretty tacky photo of a Downs syndrome kid winning a race and thinking it was funny with a cruel remark on it - and today it was removed - good!

...because nobody says anything nasty on Facebook -_-

You really going to get hung up about a funny meme? Really? It's a photo with a witty pun regarding the idiocy of arguing on the internet. You know what? It is funny. It's also one of the oldest and most commonly known memes on the interwebz. Don't take stuff so seriously. There was nothing "cruel" about it, and if you got so hung up on the photo, and not the actual statement and it's intent, then I can only advise you to double your dose of Xanax.

Vote 'em off the island, eh?

No, I vote no. I've been "banned" from several "community" message boards and I find this banning behavior to be juvenile and intolerant, much like a clubhouse of adolescents voting to shun one particular individual from their "sandbox".

Yeah...let's not turn this into China.  Unless someone is being lewd or (really, really) inflammatory, there is no need for banning.  I saw the whole thing happen last week and cringed every time someone took the bait.  Us veterans know when to hold back and let things play out.  I agree with literally .0001% of the things they post and view them as antagonistic, but banning someone for that is just childish.  I am currently banned from the Unofficial Martin Guitar forum, because I said in a post that my Taylor was a superior instrument than my Martin.  It started a heated debate and at the end of it, they banned my IP address.

Not to mention, creating a post and voting only serves to validate their positions.  It's like Darth Vader in Star Wars...they feed off your hate.

You must learn to give into your hate, learn to feed off your anger! Only then will your turn to the dark side be complete! Muwahahahahahahahaha

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm sure I am better off not being a member.  I can still browse the forum if I needed info anyway, so no big loss.

I find this feature useful to quell the urge to join in flame wars.  The funny thing is, months or years later, I see posts from people I've ignored, and find myself choosing "read anyway", completely forgetting why I ignored them in the first place.  Hopefully, we can view these episodes as opportunities for personal growth and become better, more tolerant people in the end.

FYI The track is all posi and has little to do with Tyler or Diogenes except that Tyler sometimes races there and Diogenes probably used to.  Anyway, like I said its a positive atmosphere that's beginner and family friendly and is wholly unrelated to the argument between said posters.
