The ride will start at 1001 East Broadway in Alton.

Tom will have the shop open at 9:00 for pre-ride goodies and chit-chat. We will leave at 10:00 sharp and make our way from Broadway to the bike trail near the riverfront. As we leave Alton, you will have the choice of riding the bike trail or joining a paceline on the River Road. Like the Wednesday night ride, this is a training and social ride so we will be re-gathering at stopping points along the way.

There are several convenient turn-around spots for shorter rides: Clifton Terrace and back is 11 miles; Piasa Harbor and back is 15.5 miles; Elsah and back is 24.5 miles; and the ferry and back is about 40 miles.

The Calhoun extension is very scenic; it has some climbing but it is very moderate and the descent is way fun. We are trying to arrange a stop at the country store in Brussels for rest and water before we continue downhill to the ferry and home! Total miles will be around 60. (Unless you want to climb Springfield Hill or Belltrees.) Tom will have the shop open for refreshments and socializing again.

Something different this year! Should be fun.

Just a reminder this ride is just around the corner. For those of you who are racing Saturday this can be a great day after ride. No race pace expected but who knows. Really looking forward to hanging out with all the riders who have come out for this ride in the past as well as some new faces.

Just wanted to point out, that since there are fewer major elevation changes(less hills), this ride will be the perfect opportunity to bring out the whole family to enjoy the day on their bikes.
