I am looking to join an existing group or start my own. I am a cat 4 and looking to race the full season. It is easier when some one else will go out and freeze or bake with you. I do try to get my weekend long ride done early. Post here or pm me

3-4 hours about about 18 depending how flat or hilly. I tend to avoid the big group rides because it turns into a hammer fest. I will go over to columbia,il and to west co into Franklin county. I am not opposed to driving to get in rides with less traffic. What kind of pace do you ride? Do you race or at least want to?

The sunday knucklehead ride does at least for me tend to be quite fast... So I do those less often, unless I want to get in some hurt.
I do plan on racing again this year. Got in a bunch of Tuesday night worlds last year.
3-4 hours is probably on the longer side of riding for me. Maybe we can start at 3 hours or so.
Usually solo, I'll do about 16-18. In groups obviously, its faster.
Let see if we can round up some people and do some rides.
Normally I'd prefer to leave from home on my bike. I live by forest park.

2 routes. One shorter and one longer. The longer one works out to almost 70 miles. The shorter one is about 40.
They meet at the corner of Hanley and Clayton at the old schnucks.
The longer route is extra hilly but there's a bunch of rest stops.
The shorter one is not as hilly but very fast with no stops.

-I live one block south of tower grove park.
-Training for road and mountain bike racing. I do mtb one of the two weekend days typically.
-Usually average around 18 mph
-Training for a couple 100 mi mtb races so 3+ hour rides are great to get in with some company.
Thanks,
Todd K

Is there a weather caveat(too cold etc)? How has attendance been lately?

This past Sunday there were ten of us. Size of the group will vary based on temp and road conditions.

a friend of mine moved to birmingham alabama and was telling me how they have a weekly hard group ride.. ride goes on all year.. 20-30 guys in december, 100+ guys when its warmer.. always a fast flat ride. his biggest comment was its out in the country.. not one stop sign or light..like a race . just keep on peddaling.. on the flats where its harder to get dropped .. you dont have it, sit on.. hard to do in the hills..
he loves it..
same thing in new mexico..
talked to my friend who just got back from a visit in arizona.. he said they have a weekly hard group ride.. they too do it out in the country.. no stopping..
year round.. its crowded with different teams..think he was in a different part of arizona, not where a lot of guys go train, but where he was he said it was awsome..
kentucky has a similar group weekly ride in the country.. done year round..
i think it be awsome to have one of these rides. head out to the country somewhere and go hard out and back..
the weekly momentum ride is great..but thats monday in the spring/summer..
a weekly saturday or sunday hard long group ride out in the country be nice..
closest thing i ever remember resembling this kind of group hard ride was years ago the st louis cycling club had a weekly sunday ride at the marketplace in columbia il. a few others would join in along with all the clubbers making it a 20 man group ride.. ride out 10-15 miles to 156 then go hard a few hours. no cops, no stop lights.. no cars.
now all you see is a few guys here and there training..
i think if it ever got going and became popular, a big group hard ride over in columbia be great.maybe start a bit farther out at 156 and levee and head down to fults via levee and back..no cops cars signs.. only wind!!!

I've lived in New Mexico for a few years and even spent a few winter months in Alabama. Both are warmer and NM was a lot drier than STL! I think that explains lots.

Cleeland I am at Milentz and January real close to Record exchange. In a month or so though I am moving to Lindbergh and Muhler.
I am not looking for a big group ride. I am looking for guys who will do some longer miles and crank it up if that is what training calls for.

That said, The Knucklehead is probably the closest you get. Year 'round, been going on for years. What I like about what we have here, though, is that there is more than just the Knucklehead. In other areas, the big group ride is pretty much the only thing going.
