Bubba points and Illinois racers

1. Can Illinois racers who compete in the entire bubba series but race the Ill state race get points from our state race for the bubba series? I got 20th in the 1/2/3 race which is a whopping 1 point. Double that for the state race... you got it. 2 points. Those 2 points are very critical this year, TK.
Anthony Dust got 10th as well.

2. How come the MO cat 3 champ got his points to go towards his Bubba mens open overall ranking? That doesnt make sense. Nothing against the individual. If he wants to challange me to an arm wrestling match I accept.
And not that any of this really matters.
Ok thats it. Let the beetings begin.

I completely agree with the Cat 3 state championship thing though.

I don't really care one way or the other since in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. Just my lousy opinion.

No, I don't think such a practice should be mandated (such as Boss Cross points earned in a STL/CoMo/JC/Hermann-hosted championship) but I do think it's a good practice.

The Bubba series does support state, and like I said it clearly states the points will count.

I can understand D's logic from the standpoint that the states has different groups/categories than the Bubba; but yet I also understand trying to gain participation in the states by including it in the Bubba series. But it is all mute from the point it is clearly put in the flyer that the states not only count for the series but that it also counts as double points.

Well said Joe. Thanks for helping clarify my muddled thoughts.

All kidding aside I received "B" series points for racing 30+ masters at state?? We won't even go into details of the race lol, but that makes no sense. I'm 99% sure at least 5 guys after me in the overall B series points can and did beat me all year.....
I understand the thoughts on all of it but I think it needs to be changed a little bit. Much like at state last year in ILL they gave callups to "Downstaters" I think Bubba can do something to change a few things so its fair for all racers from all states.
Can we start talking about course markings & sandbagging again please????

Stay out of Illinois!!! CX is life, the rest is just details!!!
Begin whiny rant:
I don't expect this year's bubba rules to change, as the flyer is set. But I'm not too big on a local series giving Bubba points for the non-local state race, or even as locally held state championship, as I don't think riders should be encouraged by extra points to attend a state championship race. There really are only a few of us Illinoisians affected, but if we have the cojones to go to our own state championship race (which was mind meltingly awesome, had at least 10 times the racers MO state had, miles of sand, and was awesome if I didn't already say that), I don't think we should lose out on being able to haul in bubba points by the boatload. That said, look at the participation at the event by st louis riders. A decent, but by no means impressive number of riders from STL. Just like any other big race outside of St Louis. There are many good races worth going to, like Joe Martin, Quad Cities, USGP events, etc. But usually you see the same handful of STL riders willing to leave the area to try their hand at a big regional event. There are so many local races around the area that people aren't race starved enough to venture away from comfy old st louis.
Personally, I'd rather state champoinship races count for no points or just as many points as any other race. The rewards from state should be the jersey and pride.
Conclusion:
Go ride your bike! Have fun! Don't take yourself too seriously!

As someone who is in that small handful of racers that actually travel, I completely agree. My first post above didn't include the fact that I think the fact that the MO state race having not only Bubba points, but DOUBLE Bubba points is kind of stupid. I get that it's the series trying to support the state championship race which is often one of the least attended races all season. I think that realistically, anyone that is in contention (and a Missourian) for an overall is already probably going to state and double Bubba points have little to do with that. This is especially true for the A race.

On a side note, I think the reason the states are worth double points is that Mike is sampling that notion from the BAR competition
