I hit 199rpms on spin bike. not sure if it has a max reading or if I just fell 1 short of the 200 mark. If it does have a max I know that I was not much faster than 200rpm if at all.

Geez, you should try track.

I saw 160-something once, but it was blurry, and I'm a reformed (reforming) gear-masher.  :)

I went out a few times this past season. Also, on a spin bike once you get those pedals spinning you just try to keep up. It is almost like they spin themselves.

I recall being able to hit 200 ish when I rode with cadence.  Riding with junior gears for 3 years does have an upside.

Gotta love that 14-25.
Q: Do you really sprint with such reckless abandon that you need straps?
A: Yes.

I dont know why I thought there might be more people with cadence sensors, I dont even have one on my bike yet. Not sure I would be able to spin like that on the track anyway unless I have the 14-25 setup. I think at 47(?) gear inches you would be spinning 200rpm at 28mph.

Yes, I am a bit bored

14-25 is a junior cassette.  Paired with a 52t big chainring to pass jr. gear rollout.

I may be bored but not enough to figure gear inches for a 10speed cassette. Ill just assume you didnt tell me about that  :) .

I suggest for next track season we have a race where everyone is riding a 47 gear inch setup

52x14 works out to about a 100 inch gear (think "Eduardo") . . . 52x25 = 56 gear inches, you'd be spinning your brains out!

But the real question is "how long can you hold it?"  spinning a 56 inch gear at 200 rpm equates to 33 mph, which is a 1:07 kilo.  I would pay good money to see that!

ps: you can find all these cool numbers at FGF in the gear chart spreadsheet for free here . . .

I'd rather watch someone ride a 1:07 in 94-104"

1:07 kilo in a 104" gear (like 54x14) works out to 108 rpm, that's gear-masher territory!  but a 94" (49x14) is 120 rpm, that would probably look more normal.  what kind of gears are the chicago elites running for the kilo?

Fraley won the Master's National 30-34 Kilo (on drop bars) with a 1:08 in a 100".  Your rpm numbers from the spread sheets are averages bill.  He didn't come out of the gate at 110rpm and hold that for 3 laps.  He exploded out of the gate, hit 41-42mph, hung on and then faded badly for last lap.  Though to his credit he is inhumanly strong.
