Though to his credit he is inhumanly strong.

. . . what was he squatting at the time?

not sure.  But my understanding is that the gym numbers are primarily for the starting torque.  Everything else would have more to do with speed work and other factors.
Q: Do you really sprint with such reckless abandon that you need straps?
A: Yes.

I may be bored but not enough to figure gear inches for a 10speed cassette. Ill just assume you didnt tell me about that  :) .

I suggest for next track season we have a race where everyone is riding a 47 gear inch setup

That is funny.  I stage a "bike/goat rodeo" (don't ask) with my son & daughter & their friends & anyone else dumb enough to show up (ages 19-47 [me]).  One of the events is a granny gear race (we should do this up at Penrose).  Riding ~45 gear inches, the folks in the lead of all three heats topped out @ 25 mph.

It was a short course, and I can't imagine doing that for even a lap up @ Mr. BF.  But then again, I am an old fat guy. . .

In college I rode in the Indiana University Little 500 race. Needless to say, racing a 46x18" (69 gear inch) single speed coaster brake bike will teach you how to spin. My team won the pre-race series 16-lap Team Pursuit and our lowest cadence per lap was 126 and our highest cadence per lap was 132! I've been using Computrainers this off season so far and it's been great at finding my most efficient cadence per watts, which for me is between 105 and 115.
