Yeah, that's typical of GM. They're so backwards when it comes to how they market their cars. They think alienating a segment of society will sell more cars. About 5 years ago, Pontiac had a pathetic radio commercial talking crap about cyclists as it advertised its POS Grand Am. GM's marketing approach is almost as rotten as their POS cars.

Get over it, you don't like the add, then don't buy GM cars. If they advertise running cyclists over I would be upset, but this who cares.

I really don't think this ad was all that controversial.  Look at it from another viewpoint.  What if (Trek) or any other bicycle manufacturer ran a similar ad but the opposite sex was attracted to the physical qualities of the cyclist versus the driver of the car and their line was something akin to GM's?  Would you be upset then?  Perhaps not.

As Eggman wrote, if they suggested harming cyclists then we could grab our torches and pitchforks.

Stay classy, St.Louis.

This ad is nothing compared to the casino ad that essentially glorifies making a cyclist crash.  It's the one where the pirate comes up next to the biker and sticks his wooden leg into the guy's wheel to make him go over the bars.  Even this ad doesn't bother me too much since I can just ignore it and not give whatever company my business, but it makes my wife pretty mad since she worries about me riding all the time.

I think the ad is supposed to be funny although I don't really find it humorous.  I would be much more amused if Trek made a TV ad that involved some sarcastic remarks from a driver of a truck or SUV ("nice wheels" or "nice spandex") and then that same driver pulling into a gas station and buying over $100 of fuel.

Exactly my point, Wes.  That ad is out of bounds versus the GM ad just being one we (cyclists) may not like.

"What has General Motors been doing in the wake of its bailout-assisted turnaround? For one thing, trying to convince young American men that hot women will laugh at them if they ride a bike."

In case you haven't noticed, they already do.  As does the majority of the population.

Big deal.

Maybe the pirate was working for the Cinzano Casino? *

Nice play! I'm assuming the pirate is portrayed by Eddy Van Guyse. I'll leave the pass open for some poor sap whop needs it. Wouldn't roll the stop in the first place.

There's nothing to get over... just making an observation about how much GM sucks in both their marketing and cars... and yes, free speech is a two way street, which is exactly way I voiced my opinion in the first place. BTW, did I mention how much GM's marketing and cars SUCK?!

What saddens me about this is, this is coming from the same company that was one of, if not the longest, sponsor of a U.S. pro cycling team.(men & women) SATURN
