Rode the new sections yesterday.  Not officially open till the 8/18 but people are on them.  Was a little disapointed that they are so short was hoping for more so I could extend my daily mileage and still stay on a trail.  Heard a passer by say  Oh they will be just as good as Edwardsville soon.  um you would need to add about 100 MILES to even get close and .8 isn't much.  Oh well they are trying at least.  There is also the start of a connector trail to Richland Praire Park in Swansea but it isn't complete yet it just dead ends.  Nice and wooded but it meanders a might waving back n forth - walkers will love it.  Still issues with people standing talking in the middle of the trail or parking thier bikes in the middle of the trail while they rest - arggghhh

I'll have to ride and walk on it later this week. That bridge over Hwy 159 was sure expensive! Something like $3 million by itself.

That's a very nice-looking bridge though. I may have to go ride it and test my acrophobia out.

Hopefully St. Clair County will continue to build trail and maybe someday hook-up with Madison County Trails. Can you imagine 200+ miles of trails?

Update  I was on the trail again last night and a new development - The skateboard kids have discovered the trail which I am not an anti board nazi but what they were doing was extremely dangerous.  The new portions have some significant grade changes so guess what they were doing last night - riding down the hills on their boards.  They are going to kill themselves and most of them do not have good trail manners.  I was bearing down on a group and they have the trail completely blocked and I am dinging my bell as loud as I can and they moved off at the last second.  Couple of them flashed me the peace sign and none said anything that I could hear so I don't know if that is skater code for F_ck o_f of if it means sorry peace or what.  I just don't want me or others hurt and I really don't want them to hurt themselves.  Part of me wants to stop call them together and do an impromptu lesson on Physics especially the part about inertia and the three laws but it might be lost on them LOL

WARNING!  Last night one of the boards in the South East corner of the new bridge over the train tracks on the new sections has split and a shard of wood is sticking up.  It is not easy to see and will ruin your day.  I still have no idea who to report this to officially.  Anybody know let me know and I will report it

Rode it this morning and the board is repaired  there would appear to be several new boards on the bridges.  I took the train to the game today and you can see work being done from Swansea to Memorial station but there are several places where an extreme amount of work will need to be done to make a trail possible
