Holmes Ave is tore up! The side of the road is riddled with holes and holes filled with gravel. Also, they dumped asphalt down the length of the road making it very bumpy. Not a friendly route for a road bike. Avoid it if you can.

Kirkwood and Oakland are cooperating on a redesign/rebuild of Holmes, with a somewhat wider roadway and wider sidewalks (I think on both sides now and all the way). Many trees are going to come down. Most of the residents there are mightily opposed. I have the impression the Citys' positions are that "We have the money, so we're going to do it."
