Hola Stephanie.  Maria Cristina Witzke is the owner of The Gigantes de Artemis Cycling Team. They have the junior development program in PR. I asked her to send me the story behind the program. She and her husband do this out of the goodness of their hearts. They are from very humble means but have represented Puerto Rico internationally for a long time.
Thank you for being open to the idea of helping them.

.

about your interest to help our cycling kids program, thanks in advance...

Let me talk about the program:
at this moment we have 22 kids in the 6-16 years old at this community program, my husband and I were working at this cycling development program since 2001...our team is a nonprofit organization that only can help them providing free trainning and a racing jersey, because that we look for all kind of donation to provide them the rest of stuff necessary to development them in our sport...

Another reason to come to the party/meeting: Get your membership cards!
I will have them available to hand out. Bring your signed signed TR waiver or I will have waivers for you to sign if you have not given me one yet.
So exciting- spring AND a Team Rev club meeting!

Thanks Cristel! THis sounds like an excellent program. I will start gathering some stuff for them. Do you know if they are any particular needs? Clothing (sizes), tires/tubes (sizes), parts, helmets
Can we make cash donations? or purchase new items for them?

Thanks for linking us with this program. I love when we can give back and encourage young people to get involved in this life-long sport!

More info on our charity:

Our Non for profit youth program involves kids ages 6 to 18 years old. Our mission is to develop them into our sport. It is a free program and it currently trains 23 kids. It is the most numerous junior cycling Team on the Island.

Our team can only provide them with training and 1 racing jersey.  Most of them are from low income families and use bicycles and cycling related items that have been donated to the team.

We strongly emphasize the technical and tactical aspects of cycling, not only to create champions but also to start them the correct way.

Last year we accomplished winning the elementary, junior and under 23 Championships.Tito, one of our athletes, started in our program at the age of 17 ( 23 now ) and is the current National Elite Champion of PR. He is now part of the Puerto Rico National OlympicTeam.

Thank you so much for the great donations. There was an interest to give monetary donations. I talked to The Director of the program and they are not use to this so it would not be qualify as atax deducted. They are still a Non profit though. If anybody wants to do it, I will use the money for shipping cost and send them the rest. Trust me, I will not use the money for anything else.
We are so grateful for your generosity. I will keep collecting items through out the year. Keep them coming. Somebody asked me if we could use larger sizes. They train kids ages 6-16, so those sizes will be used.

Thank you again.
