Hey again. Penny is doing really well and really loosening up. She loves fetch, toys, and our dog Watson. I've found a temporary foster for her which she will go to tomorrow. Thanks so much Britta ! ! Mike Weiss has offered an easy way for interested people to contribute to defraying her Vet bills. You can call or come into the shop and we will be able to use the register to ring to an account set up for her. If the person at the register doesn't know - the SKU will probably be "Penny". I work there part-time and am usually there in the morning and some evenings, so you can ask for me first or Dave Snead second. She is in the process of getting the full work up including all her vaccinations, blood tests for parasites, heartworm medication, and getting spayed. She currently has a pretty bad ear infection which she is also being treated for. The total bill is going to run between roughly $550 - $750 if everything else is clear. When she's done she will be ready for adoption and her permanent home. Any donations would be very much appreciated. I'm turning Vet receipts that I've paid into Mike, and it goes without saying that they will only be used to cover expenses from the Vet - which in this case is Hillside Animal Hospital on Manchester, which is the main Vet Stray Rescue uses.

Many Thanks,

Scott O. 647-5904

If you can't make it to Big Shark you can donate here on STLBiking. I have set up a special Subscription for Penny. Click it through to PayPal to make a $20 donation and become a Penny Sponsor. Nola and I will match the first $100 in donations.

You're welcome, but you're the more deserving one here.
And so are those who have donated so far. Thank you, each of you, for helping one of our own do a great thing.

Clarification please: Do you mean $126 donated or you still need $126 to cover the remaining expenses?

Indeed. I think we are pretty close and I don't want to take "extra" donations that go past expenses... So a big, big thanks to everyone who has helped, your generosity is really appreciated and has made this a lot easier. Also a big thank you again to Britta Siegel who has been watching Penny.

So the really good news is that I'm 99% sure that we've found a permanent home for her, which she'll be headed to in the near future. That was pretty fast! I'll letcha know who when I'm 100% sure, hopefully tomorrow.

Scott.

So Penny is headed north to live with my brother and his wife in Minneapolis. They were thinking about adopting a dog anyway, so this is a nice coincidence. She'll be their first dog together. They are nice people, have a great place, and both grew up with dogs, so I'm sure everything will be great. She'll be cross-country skiing by the end of the winter I'm sure.

A final shout out to everyone that helped with the vet bills!
