Here is the 411 on Hillsboro-Roubaix. As far as I know so far.  First, I will be promoting the race, NOT Rich Pierce.  So send me your questions harristkj@sbcglobal.net. We are pending USA Cycling approval.  The race will be a Illinois Cup race so there will be lots of racers from Chicago coming down for the race.  If anybody has suggestions for sponsor please feel free to contact me.  Our race benefits the MCCA which helps the residents of Montgomery County pay for their medical bills as a result of cancer treatment.  If you would like to donate to MCCA we will provide a link to their donation site. Pre-registration will be done on Bikereg.com and will open around February 15.

Todd, can you give us a heads up when online reg opens.  Those Chicago guys are fast . . . pre-register-ers . . . one year they swarmed it.

Well, the Illinois Cup logo is on the flyer and shows it to be a 1.5x event.

Can't speak for mobar - but I doubt it would be since the race is in Illinois...

I fixed that.  Patrick Hawley caught that for me.  It is MOBAR and Illinois Cup. Sorry about that I was in a rush to get information out to people.

This year we are using Bikereg.com for registration and we will try to give you the date at time for pre-registration.  Bikereg.com allows for a waiting list so that may help out also.

Was there a reason to move the race date to the same weekend as Dogwood, it would be nice to do both, but perhaps a little grueling plus the travel time?

I've always told my Dogwood fanatic buddies here in So. Ill that I'd do Dogwood if I happened to be visiting my daughter in Tulsa (which is way closer to Dogwood than I am in Carbondale). But I've heard great things about Dogwood, and I'm sure it is a great race. Still, for me Dogwood is as far away as Chattanooga or Cincinatti. Of course, it's not that far for a lot of you. It would have been nice to put those on different weekends.

Last several years our race as always been the Saturday before Palm Sunday. So not sure we moved it on purpose. Just happened that way. It is not easy to move a date on a road race. The MCCA puts nearly 50 volunteers on the course, plus we get full buy in from the city and police plus a zillion others that I can't think of right now.

So you're not going to race Hillsboro? But, what will we ever do without you? I know what we won't be doing, and that's getting a chance to rip on people wearing aero helmets in a road race.

Dogwood south of Springfield, MO?  Is the date confirmed?  I emailed the club a couple of weeks ago asking about a date for this event but haven't heard anything back . . .

At our last meeting we talked about this and I'm almost positive it will not be the same weekend as Hillsboro Roubaix.

You can check our website once we get a date set it will be posted on the home page www.ozarkcyclingclub.com
