Greg is a Masters racer for the Manchester Racing Club and has been racing, riding, and supporting the community for years. Rosemary has been riding just as long and is an incredibly smart rider. Unfortunately they were at the right place at the wrong time (and on their customized tandem!).
Please send any cards, letters, gifts, etc. to the Trek Bicycle Store of St. Louis, c/o Greg and Rosemary Girouard, 13922 Manchester Rd., St. Louis, MO 63011.
Please keep them in your thoughts/prayers and be grateful they are still alive from such a reckless and dangerous incident. Most of all, stay alert on the road. Get well soon!

Do you know what time of day this occurred? Were they riding alone or with others? Any other details about the crash?
My thoughts/prayers go out to them.
Get well!

He was a 20 year old who stole his parents' Mustang, no driver's license, no insurance. I don't think he was drunk.
He was speeding around another car, got in front of him and lost control. He spun a 180 right into Greg and Rose, hit the curb, and a wheel flew off the chase.
He was arrested and is in jail.

It happened around 10-11am (ish). They were riding with another couple who BARELY missed getting hit also. Their bike shattered when it went under the car. The other couple (I'm assuming) was unscathed.

Rosemary is a wonderful ambassador for cycling. If you don't know her, you likely rode with her on a trailnet ride or around town. She and Greg frequently shared the ride on their tandem and Rosemary was always quick to chat you up as they passed (they passed a lot of folks- they are STRONG on that bike). She has a heart of gold and it shows in each of those quick interactions.
Get well soon, Rosemary and Greg. We want to see you back on bikes, smiling at us as you pass!

Sorry for what I will be saying, it may not be the right time or place. But, please stop calling such incident accidents. These are no accidents, these things are avoidable. Call them recklessness or stupidity but not accidents. Falling of your bike is an accident, but somebody hitting you is not.
An unrestrained car is a weapon.
